of a diverse team of seasoned industry veterans with backgrounds
in enterprise product development, sales, and engineering.
Peter Vardigans - Chairman
Following the acquisition of Active Navigation
by Arthur Hughes in November 2004, Peter Vardigans,
previously a shareholder in Active also became Chairman.
Peters business experience expands
more than 30 years, he began his career working at Ford,
British Gas and Sea Containers in a number of financial
positions including; financial analysis, capital investment
appraisal, internal audit, corporate treasury. He was
a founding member and Chief Executive of Babcock & Brown in London and then an international partner of
the firm. Peter also had two postings in their Sydney
and Madrid offices.
He enjoys a wide range of business interests
and plays an active role in a number of private companies.
In 1999 he formed Vista Capital Limited which specialises
in financial advisory activity in international leasing
and asset and structured finance.
Peter Baumann - Chief
Executive Officer
Peter joined Active Navigation in March 2005. Peter is a technology and business information industry veteran with over 18 years of front-line experience across both the private and public sectors.
Prior to joining Active, Peter has worked in businesses as diverse as Racal Defense, Air et Chaleur, Bureau Van Dijk and Standard & Poor's (McGraw-Hill), and more recently has worked as a consultant in a number of start-ups, software, new media and web-based companies. He has extensive international experience across EMEA, the US and Asia Pacific which includes several foreign postings.
Steve Matthews - Head of Sales
Steve joined Active Navigation in 1998 as a pre-sales consultant and was responsible not only for pre-sales activity but also successful project deployments. Steve has been responsible for sales since late 2003 and established Active Navigation Inc in Washington DC in late 2003. In addition to establishing a strong base of reference clients Steve also established key relationships with partners. Since returning to the UK Steve has been an integral part of defining and implementing the new sales model. Prior to joining Active Navigation Steve worked in a pre-sales role for another IT company, within the NHS and served six years in the Royal Air Force.
Chris Dewey - Head of Client Services
Chris has a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages and European Studies (German and Russian) from the University of Bath and joined Active Navigation in 2000, gaining a deep technical understanding of all Active Navigation products, which enables him to understand client requirements and then implement the appropriate solution. Chris has installed and configured Active Navigation's core product toolset to implement many successful client solutions, whilst also delivering pre-sales support and creating and delivering client training. Before joining Active Navigation, Chris worked for seven years as an Export Sales and Marketing Manager for Transmission Developments, an engineering company.
Gary Hill - Head of Development
Gary has a PhD in Computer Science from the
University of Southampton and was involved in research
projects that investigated novel approaches to navigation
of unstructured content. This experience has been applied
to the evolution of Active Navigation's solutions for
information analysis and discovery. He is responsible
for managing the ongoing development and design of the
Active Navigation Server as well as assisting partners
and customers in their deployment of solutions based
on Active Navigation's technology.
